Keep Your Pet Healthy With Annual Preventive Care Exams

Adult dogs and cats are in the prime of their lives, and it's important to keep them healthy so they can stay active for many years to come. We recommend that pet owners bring their adult dogs or cats in for a preventive care exam once a year to ensure that they are healthy and to prevent any budding problems from becoming more serious.

During your pet's annual preventive care exam, we will make sure that all vaccinations are up to date, as well as perform any necessary lab tests to make sure there are no parasites present or medical abnormalities.

In addition to a thorough physical examination, we will also spend time with you to answer any questions you may have about nutrition, behavior, and general care for your pet.

Fitness Is Important

Just like people, pets need to be active in order to stay healthy. If you are a dog owner, we recommend that you walk your dog at least 15 minutes a day to start, working your way up to longer walks whenever you have the time. This will not only benefit your dog, but you'll feel good too!

Cats like shorter bursts of activity. Make sure you have interesting climbing opportunities for your cat, as well as objects he or she can chase, like a moving string or ribbon (don't leave laying around). Catnip and laser pointers also encourage activity. Try not to use your hand or fingers since this will teach your cat that scratching and biting are acceptable.

Healthy Teeth Prevent Illness

Good dental care is essential to the overall health of your pet. During your preventive care exam, we will show you how to care for your pet's teeth at home and make sure you're comfortable doing it on your own. Your veterinarian will always do a thorough examination of your pet's entire mouth and may recommend a professional cleaning at our hospital.

Ask Us Anything

Your veterinarian will be happy to discuss any questions you have during your pet's wellness exam, from what to feed your pet, to how to modify an unwanted behavior. Feel free to ask anything you like. And, if you get home and remember something you wished you had asked, that's OK. Just give us a call and we'll be
