Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Comprehensive Wellness Care:  Pets age faster than people do.  When we examine a pet annually, it is nearly the same as people going to their regular doctor every 3-5 years.  We recommend regular, yearly examinations for young adult pets.  As pets enter their mature adult and senior stages of life, twice a year examinations can help detect problems earlier making disease management less problematic and costly.

Vaccinations: There has been significant research done regarding vaccinations in recent years.  Once your puppy or kitten has completed their initial vaccine series, we will customize a vaccine schedule taking into consideration your pets lifestyle, risk factors and contact with other animals.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.  Please see our Dental Page for more information about pet oral health

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Surgical Services:  Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Internal medicine consults: We offer in-hospital referrals to an internal medicine specialist who performs ultrasounds, endoscopic procedures and helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Microchip identification: Each year thousands of pets are lost and never reunited with their family.  Microchipping is an easy way to ensure your pet can be found.  A microchip is amouth the size of a pencil lead and is placed via an injection between their shoulders.  Local shelters and animal control agencies check every pet that comes into their care for a chip.  Chips are registered in a database and can reunited a pet lost in California with it's owner in Washington.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm/internal parasite preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.  We also have a list of local trainers and behaviorists to help with extreme situations.

Boarding:  We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.

Bathing:  Our Spaw Days.  A bath at Edmonds Veterinary Hospital is more than a method to keep your pet smelling good.  Our assistants are trained to look for problems and conditions while they bath your pet.  While massaging shampoo into their skin we feel for lumps and bumps and note the condition of the skin and coat.  We are also on the lookout for parasites such as fleas and ticks.  Included in this service is anal sac expression, nail trim, ears are cleaned and teeth are checked and brushed.  A bath with one of our team members is truly a Spaw Experience.

Emergency Care:  Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hour emergencies..
